Security, Key To Nigeria’s Economic Dev – Amaechi

Rivers State Governor Rt. Hon. Chibuike Rotimi Amaechi says the security of Rivers State is crucial and imperative in view of its strategic economic importance to the nation.

Governor Amaechi gave the indication yesterday while receiving the Chief of Air Staff, Air Marshall Mohammed Dikko Umar, who paid him a courtesy call at Government House, Port Harcourt.

The Governor noted that Rivers State is strategic in Nigeria due largely to the numerous economic infrastructure located in the state, such as the NLNG, Petro-chemical Company, Fertilizer Company, Refineries among others, and expressed appreciation to the Nigerian Airforce for its contributions towards safeguarding these infrastructure and the restoration of peace and security in the state.

The State Chief Executive noted that without the involvement of the Nigerian Airforce the level of calm attained in the state would not have been possible due to the difficult terrain of the state, especially with its numerous creeks, which criminals used as hideouts.

Governor Amaechi said government was willing to make further contributions to the Nigerian Airforce to enhance the cordial relationship that already exist between them and the state as well as to enhance their operations.

Earlier the Chief of Air Staff, Air Marshall Mohammed Dikko Umar had assured the governor that the Nigerian Airforce would continue to support the state in the area of maintenance of peace and security of lives and property of the people of Rivers State.

He also expressed gratitude to Governor Amaechi for his doggedness at ensuring the security of lives and property of the people and the development of infrastructure especially in the building of new primary schools which the 97 Special Operations Group of the Nigerian Airforce Port Harcourt benefitted from immensely.
