With the countdown to the general elections across the country, the South –South Chiefs/Elders for Jonathan/Sambo Presidential Network, has thrown its weight behind the second term bid of Governor Chibuike Rotimi Amaechi of Rivers State, saying, supporting the governor to continue with the good works in the state is a worthwhile venture.

The National Director/Chairman of the Network, High Chief Omubo Atuboinoma Harry who made the position of the group known in an interview with The Tide in Port Harcourt said the group was backing Governor Amaechi for second term because, “he knows what is good for his people.”

He said the Amaechi-led administration had brought about changes in the state which the people could see, noting that it was the first time after the military administration of King Alfred Diete-Spiff that Rivers State was being given a new lease of life.

Chief Harry explained that the administration’s developmental strides in the education and health sectors as well as  in the area of infrastructural development had endeared the governor to the hearts of the people, and urged him to sustain the tempo of development of the state.

“Governor Amaechi is a very vibrant, young man and knows what is good for his people. This is the first time since after the regime of King Diete-Spiff that we are seeing changes, changes that you can see. And that is why all members of my group will vote for Amaechi without reservation,” he said.

According to him,” there is no way you can see a good road and leave it and enter the bush. Amaechi’s road is clear and clean. We shall follow him to the end and support him with all our strength.”

The national director also commended the Rivers State Government for declaring last  Wednesday a public holiday to enable civil servants in the state to register during the voters registration exercise, noting that it was only by registering that members of the group and others would vote for candidates of their choice at the polls.

He assured that the Network had massively mobilised its members to register, stressing that the voters cards were the weapon with which the group would actualise its aims and objectives of voting for Governor Amaechi and President Goodluck Jonathan at the polls.

Advancing reasons why the Network was supporting President Jonathan, Chief Harry said the group was convinced that President Jonathan would lead Nigerians out of bondage, poverty and frustration and make the country a better place for all.
