Probe Murder Of Human Right Activist – Group Urges
The Anambra chapter of Campaign for Democracy (CD), a civil society group, has urged security agencies in Abia to investigate the murder of Mr Chidi Nwosu, its Vice-Chairman for the South-East Zone.
A statement by Mr Uzor Uzor, the Chairman of the chapter, in Onitsha, Anambra, on Monday, said a probe of the incident was necessary to unravel the mystery behind his death.
“After the despicable murder of our zonal vice-chairman, his wife and daughter; his mother-in-law and the deceased’s younger sister were locked inside the toilet,’’ it said.
It further stated that the assassins ransacked the deceased’s house and stole more than N80,000.
“We call on the Inspector-General of Police and the Acting Commissioner of Police in Abia and other relevant security agencies to arrest the murderers of Nwosu so that they could face the weight of the law,’’ it added.
Nwosu was murdered by gunmen at about 12:48 a.m. in his Amaeke Abam country home in Arochukwu LGA in Abia, on December 29 in the presence of his wife, Amaka.
Meanwhile, our correspondent gathered that the deceased was appointed the director of Abia Rubber Company by the state government before his death.
