Police Arrest 2 Oil Pipeline Vandals
The police in Lagos last Thursday said that it had arrested two persons, including a woman, for allegedly vandalising a pipeline belonging to the NNPC.
Mr Frank Mba, police spokesman in Lagos State, told newsmen that the suspects were arrested at about 1 a.m. last Tuesday while allegedly siphoning fuel from the pipeline.
Mba said that the suspects were arrested with a Renault truck, with registration number XT 549 MUS, loaded with petroleum product believed to have been stolen.
“The vehicle was loaded with 42 drums of petrol.
“After the arrest, the suspects also led the police team to another place where three more drums with fuel, pumping machine and hose were recovered,” Mba added.
He said that the suspects had made useful statements that might lead to the tracking down of others involved in the alleged crime.
