The Hope Democratic Party (HDP) is to hold its national convention in Port Harcourt today to ratify its presidential candidate, Chief Ambrose Owuru as it is set to spring surprises in the nation.

The spokesman of the party, Dr. Goodluck Diibo in an interview with The Tide on Wednesday said the party would spring surprises in the country and clinch the presidency during  the April election.

Diibo said HDP was the only political party in Nigeria that had openly supported resource control and the United Nations declaration of rights of indigenous people for self determination.

He said delegates were expected to attend the convention from all over the federation, stating that national leaders of the party would address the people at the convention.

The party spokesman also said the convention would be used as a platform to introduce chief Hycienth Nama Dam as the governorship candidate of the party in Rivers State.

Meanwhile, a cross section of Rivers people campaigning for real change and transformation have welcomed the decision by the party to hold its national convention in Rivers State.
