Falcons Begin Preparation For World Cup
In a bid to continue building her team for the 2011 FIFA Women World Cup in Germany, Super Falcons Coach, Eucharia Uche, has released the names of 30 players invited to camp.
The list includes players who were not part of the Falcons gold winning African Women Championship (AWC) feat in South Africa.
According to Uche in a television programme monitored at the weekend, the new invitees are being given the chance to play themselves into the main stream of the team.
She said that the idea was to get quality players to beef up the squad that will make it to Germany.
“We want to see those who did not make it to the last AWC play for a week or two and pick those we will use to beef up the team for the world cup. As many that will prove themselves will have the chance for the Germany trip, said Uche.
The players invited individe Funsho Alake, Racheal Ayegbe, Christy Bulus. White Ebuleye, Eli zabeth Johnson, Christy George, Effionwan Ekpo, Uju Okafor, Esther Udegbe, Abiodun Obende Joy Jegede, and Rebecca Kalu.
Others are Mary Ofuokwu, Semola Akinlose, Ike Ginika, Danilola Akano, Sarah Micheal, Shola Oye Wusi, Emuje Agbiabehva, Alaba Jonathan, Uchechi Sunday, Oshola Asisat and Hope Orieka.
Also, Akudo Iwuagwu, Amenze Igbinosum, Felicia Eze, Jennifer Osawaru Blessing Edogho, Maureen Godwin and Gift Ota weare part of the invites.
The Faleons coach said that invited players have been given January 20th deadline to report to the Serob Legacy Hotel Wuse, Abuja.
It would be recalled that Nigeria is in the same group with world champions Germany, France and Canada.
