e-Business Life Holds Broadband Summit, February
The e-Business Life Communication Ltd, one of the leading Information and Communication Technology (ICT) companies in the country has announced that preparations are in top gear for its second Broadband Summit scheduled to hold in Abuja in February this year.
The summit, which has its theme as ‘Broadband Revolution: The Next Growth Strategy-reaching the Nigerian Consumers’ is aimed at bringing ICT stakeholders together to chart ways of utilizing the expected abundant bandwidth and focusing on the most viable ways for broadband deployment in Nigeria.
Speaking to newsmen Tuesday in Lagos, the Chief Executive Officer, e-Business Communication Limited, Mrs. Ufuoma Emuophedaro said the summit would also look at the various ways of ensuring availability of broadband services to consumers all over the country while underlining profitability for service providers.
Emuophedaro stated that with the landing of submarine cables and the expected deluge of internet related activities, it has become imperative for stakeholders in the ICT sector to further ensure the profitable use of available bandwidth to boost economic and social activities in the country.
According to her, “ analysts have noted that with the reality of the availability of broadband technology on ground, the country will have to look for ways of channeling available bandwidth and ensuring that it gets to the hinterland”.
She continued, “the biggest challenge might be last mile deployment. But how do we go about it? This is one of the things stakeholders will tell us at the event”.
The e-Business Communication CEO further observed that the Nigerian market was hungry for broadband services, which she said was made more obvious by the growth rate in mobile technology and need for online, and real-time interface saying, “the market is ripe in Nigeria”.
Emuophedaro revealed that both government and private sector decision makers drawn from the various sectors of the Nigerian economy are expected to speak at the event, proffering direction to the deployment of broadband services around the country.
