Community Warns Indigenes Over Voters Registration

Members of the Federated Neke Autonomous Community (FENAC), in Isi-Uzo  Local Government Area of Enugu  State,  have resolved  to punish any of the sons and daughters who is 18 years and above but fails to register and obtain voter’s card in the ongoing Voters Registration exercise.

 In a communique issued   at the end of their Annual General Assembly held at St. Patrick’s Catholic Church, Neke, the participants resolved that henceforth, voter’s card would be a ticket for admission in both  primary and secondary schools, as well as for identification for any one within the community.

  FENAC, therefore, used the forum to urge all religious, political , traditional and leaders  at different levels to mobilise the people for massive participation in the voter’s registration exercise which holds nationwide between 15th and 29th January.

  In addition, the meeting also charged indigenes of Neke community to participate actively in the 2011 political activities  as a means of producing political leaders that would represent them effectively and at the same time provide  them with dividends of democracy.

  Focusing on the developmental stride of the governor of Enugu State, Barrister Sullivan  Chime, the meeting commended him for the progress in the Ugwuogo – Nike – Neke  – Ikem Road, currently under construction, and urged him not to relent until the project is totally completed.

  As a result of the enormous economic and political importance and benefit of the road, the people of the community pledged to monitor the progress of the project, with a view to reporting to Governor Chime, in accordance with his request during his meeting with the President – Generals of Enugu Town Unions last year.

  The meeting which was attended by many  leaders and prominent  sons and daughters of Neke community including the Anglican Bishop of Nsukka  Diocese, Rt. Rev. Aloysius  Eze  Agbo, the permanent secretary in charge of  parastatals in the SSG’s office, Enugu, as well as doctors, lecturers, top civil servants, captains of industries and, their royal highnesses.
