Cleric Urges Atiku To Support Jonathan
A cleric, Dr Emma Obianagha, has called on former Vice-President Atiku Abubakar to support President Goodluck Jonathan to win the April presidential election.
He made the call in Onitsha, Anambra, last Friday while commenting on Jonathan’s victory in the PDP presidential primary election held at the Eagle Square, Abuja.
Obianagha, General Overseer of Mount Zion Christian Church of God, told The Tide that there was a need for Atiku to demonstrate the spirit of true sportsmanship.
He said although Atiku had lost another chance to become president, “he has no better option than to support Jonathan to move PDP and the nation forward.
The cleric said that any attempt by Atiku to dump PDP for another party again would not favour him, “as Jonathan would still floor candidates of other parties in the presidential election’’.
“I am very sure Mr President will win the main election. So, I advise Atiku to join hands to build the new PDP that Jonathan’s leadership is evolving,’’ he stressed.
Obianagha, who was a PDP presidential aspirant in the 2007 election, said the peaceful conduct of the party’s presidential primary election was a sign of good things to come from Jonathan’s leadership.
“Mr President and the PDP leadership have responded to the yearnings of Nigerians and the international community for parties to imbibe the principles of internal democracy.
“This will usher in free, fair and credible general elections,’’ he added.
