Church Drums Support For Abe
As the April general elections draw close, the St Bartholomew’s Anglican Church, Bera Deanery in Gokana Local Government Area of Rivers State, has dedicated the senatorial ambition of Hon Magnus Abe to God as he prepares for the election.
Abe who is the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) flag- bearer for the Rivers South- East senatorial district was the immediate past Secretary to the State Government.
Speaking during a special service to dedicate the ambition of Hon. Abe, the Vicar, Venerable G. N. Dimkpa said the dedication of Abe to God became imperative following an attack on his life on January 4, when he was attacked by some hoodlums.
Dimkpa said, Abe had been lifted up by God and stated that no man would do anything than to support him.
However, Abe thanked the church for its support and promised not to let it down.
He reminded the people that God was the utmost and that we should always worship Him.
The former SSG, promised to fulfill all promises he made to God because He spared his life.
In another development, the National Youth Council of Ogoni People (NYCOP), has apologised to Hon Magnus Abe and the Movement for the Survival of Ogoni People (MOSOP) over the incident of January 4, 2011.
NYCOP, the youth wing of MOSOP also dissociated itself from the ugly incident and described it as sad, repugnant, callous, unaccepted and against the morals and values which Ogonis are noted for in the world.
Comrade Joseph Meekor, Acting President of NYCOP and Adamgbo Adamgbo, Assistant Secretary General appealed to Governor Chibuike Amaechi and Hon Abe to tamper justice with mercy to their children.
While responding to the youth wing of MOSOP, the former Secretary to the State Government said the thugs were hired from outside Ogoniland noting that Ogonis were not noted for violence.
