Chairman Urges Youths On Self Employment
Youths in Rivers State have been told to engage in self employment that work better their lives and make them responsible and productive citizens.
The chairman Rumuji Council of Chiefs, Obed Ekwueme gave the advice during the Annual General Meeting at Rumuji recently.
He noted that the guest for white colar jobs which have remained a mirage to most of them was responsible for the high rate of crime amongst the youths in the state.
He therefore urged them to engage in small scale business ventures as a source of livelihood.
He commended the youths of Rumuji in Emohua Local Government Area for engaging in self help projects and promoting Peaceful co-existence in the community which have created a conducive atmosphere for the various government and community projects in the area.
Eze Ekwueme assured that 2011 would usher in a new dawn of development and prosperity in the community.
According to him, the chiefs of the community are prepared to uphold the aims and objectives of the community which borders on love, unity, progress and embark on meaningful projects in the interest of the community as well as provide platforms for expression of popular views on issues affecting the chiefs and the community at large.
The chairman used the occasion to laud the paramount ruler of the community, Ohna Nyechekor I. Kpalukwlu for enlarging the membership of the council of chiefs by elevating some family chiefs and village chiefs to village and community chiefs respectively.
In his address, Eze Chima Bob Okala, former caretaker committee chairman of EmoLGA expressed joy that under the able leadership of Eze Ekwueme, the community has been able to surmount its numerous problems.
He however urged them to shun violence and electoral malpractices during the forthcoming general election in the country so as to ensure a credible election in the country.
