Bauchi Transport Corporation Acquires 50 New Buses

The Bauchi State Transport Corporation has acquired 50 additional buses to boost the fleet of the corporation, the State Commissioner for Commerce and Industries, Alhaji Ahmed Giade, has said.

  Giade told newsmen in Bauchi, that the buses were acquired through a bank loan of N230 million obtained from the Urban Development Bank.

  He said that the vehicles were presently in Abuja and would be brought to the state after the Christmas and new year festivities, to boost the 46 vehicles currently on the fleet of the corporation.

Giade explained that the present administration inherited only one

18-seater bus from the former regime in the state.

He also said that the state government through a lease agreement purchased 30 18-seater buses, 10 Canter vans, two Peugeot Partner, one ambulance, one Towing Van and one Toyota Corolla at the cost of N380 million.

Giade said that the state government also took delivery of two Marco-polo buses equipped with DVD/TV, Air-condition and toilet facilities at the cost of N86 million to cater for commuters travelling to Lagos and the Eastern States.

He said that the corporation had almost offset the loan due to prudent management of its resources.
