Baba Aladura the VIII of the Eternal Sacred Order of the Cherubim and Seraphim, Elder L.A. Onyeleonu, has called on Nigerians to embrace God and shun all forms of evil in order to return the country to greatness.

Eleder Onyeleonu in a chat with newsmen during his visit to Rivers State on Wednesday in Port Harcourt said the challenges the country was facing cannot be divorced from disobedience to God’s word.

He declared, “Nigerians should return back to God. And as the elections are coming up we should do things aright and play politics with the fear of God”.

He noted that the recent ethnic and religious crisis rocking some parts of the country was not strange as it was a sign of the end times, urging Nigerians to pray and pursue peace.

Head of the Eternal Sacred Order of the Cherubim and Seraphim Church said that, “our role as Christians is to practice Christianity as it is, then our country would change for the better”.

Elder Onyeleonu dismissed the view that the church was disintegrating; pointing out that schism was a common development in Christendom but that it has evolved measures to check internal wrangling amongst faithfuls.

As part of measures to check dissidence in the church, he said that a reconciliation committee has been set up to settle internal wrangling amongst members.

Elder Onyeleonu said, “The problem in the church is that everybody wants to be at the head but that is impossible because in the church there is order, discipline and respect for elders”.

Expressing happiness over the church’s growth in Rivers State, the Cherubim and Seraphim head said so far about five provinces have sprouted from the Port Harcourt Province and that so far 300 branches have been established in different parts of the country.

Also, he disclosed that the church has established branches in all the West African countries including the United Kingdom, United State of America, Germany and Canada.
