The African Democratic Congress (ADC) has elected Prof. Peter Nwangwu as its presidential candidate in the April general elections.
Nwangwu was elected unopposed recently at the national convention of the party held in Awka, the Anambra State capital.
In his acceptance speech, Nwangwu described the ADC as a well organised party “where members are not exposed to intimidation or any form of harassment’’.
He said that his entry into the presidential race was informed by his desire to give meaning to the live of every Nigerian.
Nwangwu added that he had the vision and ability to turn the nation’s socio political and economic situation around, and appealed to the electorate to give him the chance to serve them.
Earlier, the National Chairman of the party, Chief Ralph Nwosu, had expressed delight that ADC had a man of Nwangwu’s calibre as a member.
“The party has no money to offer the electorate, but we have the message and programmes to transform the country.’’
Nwangwu was a senatorial aspirant for the Anambra Central Senatorial zone on the platform of the All Progressives Grand Alliance (APGA).
He was edged out by former Information and Communications minister, Prof. Dora Akunyili, in the primary election of the party, before his defection to ADC.
