Princewill Advises Contestants To Step Down For Amaechi
As Governor Amaechi of Rivers State inaugurates his campaign team for the 2011geneal elections last Tuesday, Prince Tonye Princewill, a stalwart of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), has Rivers State to bury their ambitions and support Amaechi to sustain the revolutionary change in the State.
Princewill who was the governorship candidate of the defunct Action Congress (AC) 2007 in Rivers State earlier in the year said he was buying his governorship ambition in 2011 election to support and work with Amaechi to sustain the transformation of the state.
He commended the Governor for inaugurating the campaign teem and also reinstated his support and that of his supporters to offer any kind of assistance to the campaign team that will see the Governor return in the next year’s election.
The former Action Congress leader who stated this in a press statement signed by his media assistant, Chief Eze Chukwuemeka Eze said that the campaign team may not have much work considering that the Governor has been adopted as the consensus candidate by different segments of stakeholders, including non-indigenes, the traditional council of chiefs, ex-militants, traders and others in the state.
According to him, if within the space of three years, Amaecghi redefined governance in Nigeria and demonstrated visible leadership to the to the people and so needs no campaign. “For a man to resolve to build a total new city comparable with any modern city in Europe initiate the construction of monorail, the first of its kind in Africa, save a monthly basis for the future of the state, the sum of N1m, offer scholarships, and free education including many others will certainly achieve more if he returns as governor next year.
He, however, said Amaechi has ??? the election and has little to campaign for as those projects were already campaigning for him.
Princewill also said he was happy that Amaechi has accepted the People’s call to recontest, stating that Princewill Political Associates (PPA) would do everything to work with the campaign team to achieve the aims of bringing back the Governor in 2011.
