Nigeria Needs Right Leadership –Douglas

President Goodluck Jonathan’s decision to embark on the electoral reforms was in  recognition that Nigeria needs a right  leadership to be able to harness her potentials for the good of the people.

Mr. Oronto Douglas, the Presidential Aide to the President on Research, Documentations and Strategy, who stated this on Saturday in a media chat with journalists in Port Harcourt, said President Jonathan was encouraged to  seek re-election to  tackle  the leadership problems and ensure that the people  elect their leaders.

Douglas noted that the Presidency was committed to free, fair and credible  elections in 2011 and beyond, explaining that it was this reason he appointed a man with intergrity, clean and one who will be an umbiased umpire  to head   the Independent Electoral Commission.

According to him, the President has so far demonstrated to free and fair elections in Anambra and Edo  states where elections had been conducted under his watch.

He noted that the emergence of President Jonathan brought some peace in the oil-rich Niger Delta and the entire  country, nothing that the continuation of Jonathan would increase the pace of development in the country.

“The 212 days President Jonathan presided the affairs of the nation, the country  has witnessed  tremendous improvement and development in all the sectors.”

Douglas,  a former  Commissioner for Information and Communications in Bayelsa State said the President made a bail out to the  textile industry to encourage manufacturers in the country to produce more, adding that he   also released $200 millions for the entertainment industry to encourage  young musicians.
