More Rivers Communities Get Health Centres
As more communities in Rivers State receive their new primary health center (PHC) the Paramount ruler of Bomu, Gokana Local Government Area, Chief Charles Tenaloo has expressed concern over ineffectiveness of the ultrasound scanning machine provided for the center.
He stated that Ultra Sound Scan and Suction machine were not working according to expected capacity and appealed that they be put in good condition.
Chief Tenaloo also appealed that more beds be put in the children’s wards, explaining that the machines, mostly used for women and the children’s wards were the two most critical sections of the health center.
He thanked the state government for the health facility and promised that he and his people would ensure the safety of the personnel and property at the facility.
In his remarks, the State Commissioner for Health, Dr. Sampson Parker who represented the governor, assured the women, that since they were the most vulnerable in society and government would ensure that their health and that of their families are improved.
Dr. Parker said the Bomu PHC was the 35th in the 60:60:60 project to be commissioned and equipped to maintain the good health of the people and urged them not to wait until they fall ill before visiting the health center.
He enjoined them to always check their health status especially their blood pressure, and HIV/AIDS status.
Oduoha community in Emohua Local Government Area received the 36th, while Rumueprikom Community in Obio/Akpor LGA, where this year’s World AIDS Day celebration is holding is the 37th.
