JTF Recovers More Ammunition In Abia

The Special Military Task Force in Abia has recovered 48 more empty magazines of AK 47;  3,848 rounds of 7.62mm special ammunition;  538 rounds of 7.62 mm Nato.

 Lt. Col. Sagir Musa, Assistant Director, Public Relations of the 82 Division of the Nigerian Army, Enugu, made the revelation to newsmen in Aba on Monday.

  He said that the soldiers of “Operation Jubilee”, the special task force in Abia had also recovered 41 expended cases of 7.62mm special ammunition; some quantity of dynamite and 3 RPG prima.

 He said the arrested girl friend of kidnap kingpin in Abia, Obioma Nwankwo, a.k.a Osisikankwu, simply identified as Ogochi, had revealed to the soldiers where her ex-lover hid his arms when he held sway in the state and Aba in particular.

According to him, the mob up operation has recorded huge success with the recovery of the ammunition.

Osisikankwu, Ogochi and two others –  Polycarp and Chinedu, were  discovered by the special task force on December 12, at an evil forest near the Obokwe market in  Ukwa  West local government area of the state.  Osisikankwu and the other two males comrades – in – arms, were shot dead during a shoot out  while Ogochi was taken into custody.

During interrogation, Ogochi, said to be three months pregnant, revealed the exact locations in Ugwuati and other evil forests where her late boy friend hid thousands of arms and ammunition with which they terrorised Abia and neighboring states.

Musa said consequent upon the revelation, the General Officer Commanding (GOC) 82 Division, Enugu, Maj.-Gen. Sarki Yaki Bello last week led a cordon and search operation into the evil forests.

He warned  all fleeing kidnap kingpins to give themselves up as there was no hiding place for them, stressing that officers and men of the task force would leave no stone unturned in apprehending them.
