Iheuwa Development Centre an, Enugu- based political pressure group has listed three reasons why it decided to support President Jonathan for the 2011 Presidential election.

In a press statement made available to The Tide in Port Harcourt, the group listed the reasons as; bridging the gap between the South-South and the South East geo-political zones with a view to resolving the differences and misunderstanding that have existed between them.

The group further said that the support for Jonathan was meant to attract economic and polical benefits to the states of the South East which have been marginalised by conspiracy of leaders of Nigeria from the north since 1970.

The group also said that the support for Jonathan come 2011 would work in favour of the Igbos as the South East is likely to realise the presidential ambition come 2015.

The release which was signed by Dr Chinedu Jideojo-Ogbuagu described the South East geo- political Zone as strategic as far as presidential elections are concern in Nigeria.

According to him, with perhaps up to 50 percent of Nigerians population and large presence in every state of Nigeria, the Igbos can single handedly give Dr Jonathan the reqired simple majority and at least 25 per cent of the votes in at least 24 of the states of Nigeria to win the presidential election and stressed the need for Jonathan’s camp to ensure that the Igbo people all over the country are registered to vote and come out to vote on election day.

Jide Ojo-Ogbuagu however warned the Jonathan Campaign Organisation not to take the Igbos for granted pointing out that this is the time the people of the South-South should take the Igbos as their brothers.
