Getting Colours Right
It is imperative when picking colours to put into consideration your skin colour. The skin colour helps those with fashion sense in choosing the right colour combination. Pairing a bright colour with dull colour reduces the impact of bright colour and this is a perfect blend for those with dark skin while those with fair skin get more defined look when a dull colour is paired with black or white.
Skin experts are of the view that one’s skin tone determines the colour to choose and the skin tones have been divided into seasons.
For instance people with winter complexion have blue or pink undertones with pale-white skin, yellowish-olive or dark skin. Winter people are generally brunettes with deeply coloured eyes.
According to skin experts many Asians and African Americans fall into this category. Experts advise that winter people should wear colour that are sharp, stark and clear.
While black, navy blue, red and shocking pink go well with people with winter complexion. Icy tones colours are better than pastels for lighter colours. Subdued tones like beige, orange and gold should be avoided.
Those with autumn complexion have golden undertones. Many red heads and brunettes with golden brown eyes fall into this category. They are advised to select colours with golden undertones like camel, beige, orange, gold and dark brown and should avoid colours with blue tones such as navy.
People with summer complexion have blue or pink undertones like winter. And their skins are usually pale and pink. They are often natural blondes or brunettes with pale eyes. Experts are of the opinion that pastels and soft neutral with rose and blue undertones flatter their skin undertones. Lavender plum, rose-brown and soft blue suit those with summer complexion well while black and orange do not.
Spring complexion people have golden undertones and are usually creamy white or peach. Spring people generally have strawberry red hair, freckles, rosy checks and blue or green eyes. To flatter their skin tones, it is advisable they wear warm colours like camel, peach, golden yellow and golden brown while dark dull colours should be avoided.
Specifically, the safest colours for men are white and black. They are chic, classy and very suave. But to avoid monotony, gray suits could be paired with black, white, blue or any other colour. A bright coloured shirt could be toned down with a gray trouser and blazer.
