Foundation Executes 100 Projects

No fewer than one hundred projects ranging from economic empowerment, infrastructural development, scholarship and healthcare have been executed by Degema 3 Clsuter Development Foundation of the Shell Global Memoranda of Understanding (GMoU).

The foundation chairman, Barrister Emmanuel Tam Princewill, said this during the commissioning of transport scheme in Port Harcourt.

Barrister Princewill said that the scheme, which involves the delivery of one hundred brand new vehicles to communities under the foundation is to boost transportation in the area.

He also said that the foundation in line with the GMoU has given concrete response and solution to the needs of the people of the cluster communities.

“Undoubtedly, the several laudable projects we have employed upon had transformed the rural communities under the Degema 3 CDF.”

He used the occasion to thank the Shell Petroleum Developemnt Company of Nigeria (SPDC) and the monitoring organisation, Anpex for support. In his remarks, the Managing

Director of Shell Petroleum Development Company of Nigeria (IPDC), Mr. Mutiu Somonu said that the company will remain committed to the sustainable development of the Niger Delta.

“We consistently seek ways to improve on over community interface management and hence the deployment of the GMoU.”

According to him, SPDC has celebrated many success stories in the implementation of GMoU in several communities, stressing that with the launching of the transport scheme, the company looks forward to more success stories.

Also speaking, the secretary of the foundation, Chief Ombo Penuel, said that the scheme, which is for 100 persons in DAA 3 communities will create job opportunities for the beneficiaries as well as ease traffic in the affected communities.
