Elechi Urges Judges To Uphold Judicial Tenets
Governor Martin Elechi of Ebonyi said in Abakaliki, that the appointment of Mr Vincent Nwancho, as judge of the state High Court was aimed at repositioning the judicial system in the state for equitable dispensation of justice.
“Judges in the state are therefore expected to reciprocate this gesture by upholding firm, the tenets of judicial practice which commendably, they are presently upholding,” he said.
He advised the new judge not to be carried away by the glamour of his new office but ensure that he meets up to the challenges of the office.
“You should re-enact the feat achieved during your days as the director of public prosecution in your present calling, to justify the confidence reposed in you by the people,” he said.
Nwancho was the immediate past Director of Public Prosecution, in the State Ministry of Justice.
Mr Jossy Eze, State Attorney General and Commissioner for Justice, noted that with the swearing-in of Nwacho, the state now has 14 High Court judges and three justices of the Court of Appeal.
“The state judiciary will remain grateful to the governor for this elevation as it will help in achieving the objective of dispensing quick and equitable justice to the people,” he stated.
He remarked that the state judiciary needed 13 additional judicial divisions across the state to make judicial service more accessible to the people.
Nwacho in his remark, expressed gratitude to the governor and the state judiciary for the confidence reposed in him and promised to live up to expectation.
