Elderly Home Cries Out Over 16 Abandoned Inmates
The management of the Home for the Elderly, Port Harcourt has decried the abandonment of 16 inmates by their relations in the Home.
The Matron of the Home, Sister Jane Raphael, who expressed concern over during the donation of food and gift items by the Rivers State chapter of the Surveyors Wives Association in Port Harcourt said that 13 of the cases were in the female ward, while three were in the male ward.
Sister Raphael cited the case of an 80-year-old woman from Enugu State were abandoned in the home by the only daughter said to be married to a Ghanaian without bothering about the condition of her mother.
She said that the situation had continued to impact negatively on the Home, and used the opportunity to call on those whose loved ones were in the home to show love, care and support to them.
The matron, however expressed gratitude to the association for the gesture and enjoined other social organisation to emulate it.
Barrister Vero Efika said that the visit was to share love with the inmates of the Home as well as appreciate God for His love and mercies towards the entire surveyors family in the state.
