Looking back at Rivers State when it was first created in 1967 and what Governor Chibuike Amaechi is doing now, one must give him a passmark.

Credence is lent to the impartiality of the above statement, when we use our binoculars to reflect on his developmental strides in the state, especially on the present model primary and secondary schools in the state, health centres,  rural roads  and more importantly, the human capital development of our youths through scholarships to study both in Nigerian universities and abroad.

This is why Rivers people and even strangers are giving him accolades as we can see from statements of appreciation of good governance from the state, federal and international community.

This time around, such commendations about the Governor Amaechi’s good initiative programmes in Rivers State is coming from a well- respected man, an elder statesman in the state, Chief  Gideon A.O. Omodu, a one time General Manager of the RIVBANK Insurance in the state.

Omodu, who was recently installed Eze/paramount ruler of Mgbuolua Ndele in his home town in Emohua Local Government Area of Rivers State commended Governor Amaechi for his developmental strides especially in the restructuring of primary schools, building of health centres in the rural areas, construction of rural roads across the state and human capital development of Rivers citizens that gave our sons and daughters scholarships to study both in Nigeria and in other parts of the world.

According to him, the  present administration with her solid developmental agenda that will benefit youths in future describes Amaechi’s administration as following the foot prints of King Alfred Diete-spiff, first military governor of the state.

Therefore, for the maximum utilisation of the good programmes, polices of this administration, Omodu, a knight of St. Christopher, called on the Rundele, Rivers State and Nigerian youths to ensure that their actions in life were geared towards positive thinking, as it will help them stand firmly in future.

The former Ochi Oha Ikwerre viii, stated that the youths of today needed to embrace western education because knowledge is power and it is acatalyst to the development of a country.

The Eze advised that they also needed to go for their post-graduate studies and pursue professional courses like banking, computer science and law while the skilled ones should venture into welding, mechanics, carpentry, fashion designing as such skills would sustain them in life.

He recalled that in the olden days, the present kidnapping, cultism, drug abuse and other crimes in our society were not as alarming as  what we experience today.

Reflecting on the way forward to better the youths, he said that they needed to respect the existence of God  Almighty as well as respect the customs and culture of their people.

Commenting on Mgbuolua Day celebration 2010, that marked his installation, he had this to say: “This year’s celebration marks the third celebration of Mgbuolua Day. November 26th of each year has been set aside by Ogbakor Mgbuolua as a day to remember the fulfilment of a dream of Mgbuolua,a day to remember when the monumental building (Mgbuolua Civic Centre) was commissioned.”

On how he became the Eze, paramount ruler of  Mgbuolua Ndele,  he said, “After a wave of crises that engulfed  the communities few years ago, which had adverse effect on us, as a check, the Ogbakor Mgbuolua decided to bind itself together by organising a regular monthly meeting, issues were discussed and conflicts were resolved. On January 31, 2010, Ogbakor Mgbuolua decided to elect me as the Eze/Paramount Ruler of Mgbuolua Ndele. The election was unanimous. On June 13, 2010, the mantle of office was handed over to me by members of Ochiamara Mgbuolua and the Executive Committee of Ogbakor Mgbuolua and on 26th November, 2010, I was installed under the chairmanship of Captain Elechi Amadi (MFR), Chief Sampson Agbaru, Pro Chancellor of University of Jos, Eze (Barrister) Eze Kpanikwu and other dignitaries.

He called on his people to always embrace peace and unity because they are the hallmarks of development in any area.

Reflecting on the past, he said that Governor Amaechi as an Ikwerre son had addressed the margnalisation of Ikwerre people from the governance of the state.

He thanked the state governor for the transformation he has brought about in the areas of primary schools, health centres, rural and urban roads in the State,  his human capital development through the Rivers State Sustainable Development Agency (RSSDA) where a good number of Rivers indigenes were given scholarships to study both in Nigeria and abroad .

On the   2011 forthcoming elections,   he called on Rivers people to massively support and vote for the second term of our Governor Chibuike Rotimi Amaechi.
