2011: Bakare Urges Christians To Participate In Polls
In line with government’s clarion call for credible elections in the country, Christians have been urged to actively participate during the 2011 general elections.
Speaking on the platform, ‘Save Nigeria Group (SNG) summit,’ Pastor Tunde Bakare said time had come for an effective democratic change in the country.
Pastor Bakare said the only way for Christians’ voice to be heard was for them to register during the forthcoming voters registration exercise and vote to ensure that their votes count.
He called on church leaders to organise seminars and workshops for Nigerians to realise that a change was possible, and that the power of change was in their hands, adding that they should be adequately informed and empowered to enable them vote wisely.
To this end, an awareness programme designed for Christians and non-Christians in Rivers State will hold tomorrow at Hotel Presidential, Port Harcourt at 10:00a.m.
A member of the organizsing committee, Mr. Promise Jacob said modalities had been worked out to ensure the success of the programme in Port Harcourt.
