Water Taxi Scheme: RSG Trains 20 In Portugal
The Rivers State Government has sent a total of 20 indigenes to Portugal for training on the technical ability to manage its water taxis.
Hon. George Tolofari, the State Commissioner for Transport disclosed this in his office while addressing the trainees before their departure on Monday.
He stated that it was part of the benefits accruable from democracy made possible by the leadership of the State Governor, Rt. Hon. Chibuike Amaechi, in his quest to ensure that all parts of the state feel the impact of the government.
The commissioner advised that trainees to be good ambassadors to both the ministry and the state government by adhering to the rules and regulations that would be handed to them during the training.
While wishing them goodluck, the commissioner urged them to be frugal with the allowances given to them by the government, saying that the delegation will be led by Mr. Gogo Isong, the Permanent Secretary in the ministry.
He also stated that the state governor would be in Portugal to witness their graduation ceremony after one month of training.
On his part, Mr. Isong charged the trainees, saying that as civil servants, they should abide by the rules and regulations of the civil service code.
Ten out of the 20 will be trained as skippers, while the remaining 10 will be trained as Engineers.
Those in the first category are Green Jackson Abiye, Manuchimso Lemmy, Tamunotonye Atedoghu, Mathew Sokolo and Giasi Michael.
Also included in this category are Njoku Success Chinwe, Johnson Godfrey, Piori Lebani, Rowlings Nwagbede Aken and Sunday Obilor
Those to be trained as engineers are Ideozu Prince Ndubuisi, Bob-Manuel Tekena, A.K. Jumbo, Tamunopriala Godgift, Rowlings Japhet and Egiwoanwo Victor.
Others are Raymond Wonodi, Owabie Chijioke Ken, David Ibisebieton, Nwidag I.N, Barasua Agia Ibikikari and Obinna Raymond Wonodi.
