Total Launches Lubricant For Motorcycles, Tricycles

Multinational oil marketer, Total Nigeria Plc, has introduced a new lubricant, special 4T 2050W, exclusively for motorcycles and three wheelers, popularly called Okada and Keke-NAPEP respectively.

Managing Director of the Company, Mr Franccoise Boussagol,  stated this at the inauguration of the new product in Lagos, that Total was obliged to introduce the lubricant to cater for the interest of operators of motorbikes and three wheelers, which he noted as belonging to an important segment of their customers.

He stressed the need to use quality and suitable lubricant for the engine of a motorbike or three wheeler to avert internal friction and enable it serve out its life span.

Boussagol said that Total Special 4T was a specially formulated engine oil for four stroke motorcycles of all cubic capacities and adapted to gear boxes and wet clutches lubrication.

According to him, it is called multi-grade oil because the lubricant is suitable for all weather conditions.

“It has a longer drain interval, thereby saving you money and making the engine last longer because it gives better protection for engine parts against wear and corrosion,” he said.

Total Marketing Director Mr Jerry Ikhine said the company was the fist to produce the unique lubricant, adding that it was a product of thorough research.

He also said that the inauguration would be complemented with nationwide road shows and events in many cities where several branded gift items would be distributed to Okada and Keke NAPEP operators among other people.

Total lubricant Manager, Mr Jonathan Sanyanocu, explained that lubricants performed two major functions-reducing internal friction and clearing the engine. He specifically said, “lubricants are formulated to reduce internal friction of engine parts, thereby resulting in clear fuel saving.

The internal combustion process in engines produces energy to power the engines, carbon deposits, CO,CO2  nitrate and soot. These deposits and contaminants  are cleaned by the oil through a property called detergency. The deposits are suspended in solution so as not to clog clearances, pumps and the sump.”

He gave the benefits of the product to include high resistance to oxidation and blended with anti-rust and anti-foaming properties.
