Share Value Loses N2.5bn
As trading on the floor of Nigerian Stock Exchange (NSE), struggles to balance after the two days break of Eid-il-Kabir last week, market indicators have not faired well either.
At the end of trading on Wednesday, the volume and value of listed equities crashed to end the day on a negative note.
Investors’ 310,263,127 shares worth N2.3 billion exchanged hands in 5,653 deals compared to 404,114,260 shares, valued at N4.8 billion in 6,650 deals.
The volume of shares traded declined by 23.2 per cent or 93,851,133 shares from 404,114,260 shares traded on Tuesday to close lower at 310,263,127 shares.
Also, the value of listed equities depreciated by 52.1 per cent or N2.5 billion from N4.8 billion traded Tuesday, to close lower at N2.3 billion.
Meanwhile, All-share market index closed at 24,626,98 points, as market capitalisation closed at N7.7 trillion.
Nestle gained N10 per share to lead the gainers chart, while UACN, flourmill and Okomuoil gained N1.08, N.99 and N0.65 per share respectively to follow Nestle.
However, Chevron and NB lost N4.08 and N1.91 respectively to front the losers chart.
UBA drove the top 10 by volume after trading 5,852,840 worth 52.4 million in 233 deals.
Bagco and Platinum all traded 5,893,187 and 9,887,848 shares respectively, worth N12.6 and N17.1 millions respectively in 86 and 136 deals respectively.
