To promote grassroots sports and improve the standard of football in Nigeria, the Rivers State Director of the Espanyol Academy, Bacelona, Spain, Mr Christopher Wariso has called on the newly appointed coach of the Super Eagles, Samson Siasia, to partner with stakeholders in the sport at the grassroots.

Mr. Wariso who made the call in an exclusive interview with Tidesports in Port Harcourt, said the appointment of the former Olympic’s football coach was well-deserved.

According to him, the grassroots is the bedrock for the formation of a formidable team, saying that, the grassroots carry a bunch of talents that could make the country proud anytime, any day.

Wariso emphasised that this can only be achieved when talents at the grassroots are harnessed and groomed for the country’s National teams.

“I see Samson Siasia as the class and hope for grassroots soccer in Nigeria,” Wariso remarked.

Mr. Wariso, who is currently in the business of screening soccer talents at the grassroots for the Espanyol Academy in Bacelona, Spain, said these talents could also be used to beef-up the Nigeria Super Eagles in the nearest future.

He, thus, urged stakeholders in the sports, well-meaning individuals and the government to support the growth and standard of the game in the country.
