Katsina To Spend N3.9bn On Stadium
The Katsina State Government has awarded a N3.9 billion contract for the completion of the first and second phases of the state’s stadium.
The Deputy Governor of the state, Alhaji Sirajo Damari, said this on Wedneday in Katsina during the traditional “Hawan Bariki, ” a programme held to mark the Sallah celebration.
He said the decision to complete the abandoned multi-million Naira stadium was borne out of the state government’s commitment toward boosting sporting activities.
Damari, who represented Gov. Ibrahim Shema, also said the state government had within the last three and half years rehabilitated all the mini-stadia in the state.
“It is known that sporting activities play a significant role in politics of the world today, hence the decision by government to give the sector the attention it deserves,” he said.
He said government had also taken measures to meet the health needs of the people by establishing 11 new primary health centres in addition to rehabilitating all the general hospitals.
On electricity, he said the state government provided electricity in 78 villages as part of efforts to enhance the socio-economic status of rural dwellers and reduce rural-urban drift.
The Kauran Katsina and District Head of Rimi, Alhaji Nuhu Abdulkadir, represented the Emir of Katsina, Alhaji Abdulmumini Kabir, at the occasion.
