Grassroots footballers living at Port Harcourt township have decried the deplorable condition of the just completed No. 6 Field which was under construction for more than one year. The field has become heavily water logged in the face of challenges.

Minaiyo Igani, one of the concerned persons said the field condition has become worst after the reconstruction.

Igani, who is also the chairman of Sharks Support Club said this in an exclusive interview with Tidesports on Tuesday, in Port Harcourt. He maintained that the contractor who handled the field did not do a good job.

“It is disheartening to observe that the only Field that is located at the town axis cannot be used because of the poor condition.

Besides that is the Field where most of our grassroots players train and organise some football tournaments. I gain said.

The Sharks Support Club boss used the opportunity to appeal to the Commissioner for Sports Hon. Boma Iyaye to revisit the player ground.

Also speaking, John Ngeribo a grassroots footballer, said the poor condition for the Field have denied them space to train and organise competitions.

“We prefer the Field the way it was, instead of the bad condition as it is now. We are not really about the situation.

I personally appeal to the Commissioner for Sports to call the contractor to replant the grasses”, Ngeribo said.
