Falcons Progress To Semis
Nigeria’s Super Falcons yesterday beat hosts South Africa 2-1 to romp into the semi-finals of the African Women’s Championship.
Perpetua Nkwocha scored twice in the first half to increase her goal tally to five, but Jannie Van Wyk rallied one back for the hosts at half time.
At the resumption of half time, both sides could not convert scoring chances to leave the score-line the same.
South Africa and Mali would now battle for the remaining semi-final ticket in group A.
Meanwhile Mali won a hard-fought victory against Tanzania, to send the East Africans packing from the competition.
Nigeria will now face Tanzania while South Africa confronts Mali in the last group games on Sunday.
