Falcons: NFF To Rebuff Plans For PTF
Plans by the National Sports Commission (NSC) to convince the Presidency to set up a Presidential Task Force to help the Super Falcons in their World Cup preparation is set to meet with resistance from the Nigeria Football Federation (NFF).
Soon after receiving the Falcons in Abuja, there were reports that the Presidency had been advised to set up a task force similar to the one set up for the Super Eagles.
But, mindful of the pitfalls which followed that group, the NFF are unwilling to tread the path again.
“We cannot go down that route again,” a top member of the board said. “We all saw what happened with the Super Eagles, when the PTF came in and decided to take the credit for the successes of the team, but were quick to pass the blame for any mistakes on the NFF, we don’t need a PTF anymore.”
The Super Falcons were due to fly out to Germany on Monday ahead of a friendly match with the German women’s team as part of their preparations for next year’s World Cup.
Head Coach Uche Eucharia and team captain Precious Dede are expected to stay behind for the final draws, will take place on November 29 and also inspect and select facilities.
