Checkmate Frequencies Interference, DOPC Urges NCC

The Direct on PC (DOPC), one of the nation’s leading internet and internet service providers has called on the Nigerian Communication Commission (NCC) to check the incessant interference of Internet providers’ frequencies in the country.

The vice chairman, DOPC, Mr. Mahesh Sahwani made the call last weekend in Lagos at a conference while announcing the company’s plan to roll out its unwired mobile 4generation BroadBand Services.

Sadhwani who revealed that the 4G network would be launched in Port Harcourt, Lagos and Abuja in February 2011, noted with dismay the frequent jamming of operator’s bandwith, stating that such was one of the challenges faced by operators in rendering quality services to customers.

According to him “In this business of internet service provision, the frequent interference in providers’ frequencies has had an adverse effect on their operations and consequently resulted in loss of subscribers and revenue to the network”.

The DOPC boss explained that the unwired mobile 4G network was a self-installed prepaid and postpaid platform which brings ultimate convenience to internet users, adding that the company intends to change the way Nigerians connect to the internet.

He said “the unwired mobile 4G service would operate on a licensed 2.3 Gh3 frequency band which means that there would be no interference to subscribers and with its services, Nigerians would experience faster speed in internet connectivity”.

He stated that the products come in three models of the USB dongle, Indoor Modem and outdoor modem which are meant to address all segments of the society including individuals, enterprises and government.

“While the USB and Indoor modem are self-installing, DOPC’s qualified engineers are available for outdoor modem installation. We do promise to provide quality internet service to the people so long as the NCC would do its part to checkmate the alarming situation.

While lamenting the elliptic power supply in the country, Sadhwani expressed hopes that government’s intervention in the sector would help to achieve the desired result in internet service provision.
