2011: Andoni Community Endorses Amaechi For Second Term

Traditional Rulers and Chiefs of Andoni Local Government Area of Rivers State have assured Governor Chibuike Rotimi  Amaechi of delivering a bloc vote of the Andoni people if he declared his intention to contest the 2011 governorship elections in the state.

Spokesman of the Andoni Chiefs Council, H.R.M King Israel U. Otuo of Okan-Ama Unyeada, Kingdom, over the weekend announced this at the official commissioning of the  modern Primary  Health Centre at Unyeada Town built by the state government, adding that Governor Chibuike Amaechi had proved that his government was determined to develop the state, including Andoni communities.

King Otuo said Governor Amaechi had fulfilled more than the promises he made on assumption of office as the governor of Rivers State in October 2007.

He recalled that the people of Andoni had been neglected in terms of execution of projects that would transformed the lives of the people in the past , “despite the quantity of oil and gas our area supplies to the development of the  country.

According to him, Chiefs of Andoni area were committed to ensure victory for Governor Amaechi as soon as he declared his intention to contest the elections next year.

King Otuo commended Governor Amaechi for providing modern Primary Health Centres in Andoni, and assured the Governor that the people of Unyeada would ensure adequate use of the Health Centre “We are happy because over the years our people travel to Bori in Ogoni for medical care”, he said.

Earlier, the chairman of Andoni local government council, Hon. Emilia Gilbert Nte thanked the Governor for recognizing Andoni communities in his development agenda.

She said, before Governor Amaechi took over the mantle of leadership Andoni area was neglected in the areas, of development, empowerment and recognition of chieftaincy stool in the state council of chiefs.

Hon. Nte assured the Governor that for making Andoni people proud, the people would also make him proud by giving him a bloc vote for second term in office.

Responding, Governor Amaechi, who was represented by the Commissioner for Health Dr. Sampson Parker thanked the people for the warm reception accorded him.

Governor Amaechi, who appointed Committee members comprising the Unyeada CDC chairman, head of Nurses in the area, Head Doctor in the area women leader and chiefs representative to oversea activities in the health centre advised them not to misuse the facility.
