Stock Market Shows Slight Improvement

At the end of trading on the floor of  the Nigerian Stock Exchange (NSE) Wednesday, stock market showed a little improvement as indicators all went up slightly to end the day on a positive note.

Although the All-Share Index, market capitalisation and value of traded equities did not show remarkable increase, still all went up to improve investors’ hope that the bulls may return.

Specifically market index went up by 9.17 points or 37.7 per cent from 24,430.20 points traded Tuesday to close higher at 24.439.37 points.

Market capitalisation also rose by N2.2 billion or 37.6 per cent from N5.986 trillion traded on Tuesday to close higher at N5.989 trillion.

The volume of listed equities however decreased by 2.4 per cent or 6,457,685 shares from 274,823,859 shares  traded Tuesday to close lower at 274,823,859 shares.

The value of shares traded appreciated by N146.4 million or 5.9 percent from N2.5 billion to close higher at N2.7 billion.

Nestle gained N17.95 per share to lead the gainers chart, as the company opened and closed at N359.10 and N377.05 respectively.

Cadbury, AP and Flourmill followed with N1.43, N1.26 and N1.22.

On the other hand NB, Conoil, NBC and UAC – Prop all lost N2.58, N1.96, N0.99 and N.46 respectively to lead the loser’s chart.
