The Sole Administrator of the Greater Port Harcourt project, Mrs Aleruchi Cookey-Gam, has said that about N45 billion has been earmarked to commence work on the project.

Mrs Cookey-Gam said work on the implementation of infrastructural  development  would start soon with the level of commitment shown by Governor Chibuike Rotimi Amaechi towards the actualization of the project.

Speaking to The Tide correspondent at the Port Harcourt International Airport, Omagwa, the Sole Administrator stressed, “We are hoping that as we provide the infrastructure, the city will come to limelight and it will be funded adequately”.

According to her, the project would be funded according to the 2010 budget of the state, pointing out that the challenges in carrying out the project are being sorted out.

She disclosed that talks were on to ascertain the real  owners of affected lands and properties with a view to compensating  them as there is a lot of overlapse in their claims.

Mrs Cookey-Gam used  the opportunity to assure the support of Rivers people to President Goodluck Jonathan ‘s ambition to contest the 2011 Presidential elections, noting that everyone in the South-South geo-political zone and beyond had given him their blessings.

“We support Dr. Goodluck Jonathan in his presidential bid and all from the South-South and other zones including the North support him. The women are equally mobilized and sensitized to show a good outing on the day of the election of Dr Jonathan”, she stressed.
