As the 2011 election and voters registration draw near, His Royal Eminence, Sir (Dr.) Chukwumela Nnam Obi 11, Eze Oba of Ogbaland has advocated the need for true federalism as the only solution to Nigerian political problems.

Nnam Obi who gave the indication during a courtesy visit to his palace by Women Initiative for the Needy International, said there was a need for true federalism in Nigeria “if we must tell ourselves the truth”.

He said that practising true federalism would usher in development and address  the mistakes of the colonial masters in bringing the big umbreller to one nation.

“There is need to change what is wrong. Let us tell ourselves the truth, let us do the right thing now before chaos set  in, in this country”, he said, adding that “the past leaders did well but they made mistakes and Nigerians should not die with the mistakes. I wish President Goodluck Jonathan is close enough to the people that can tell him the truth, so that this country can have peace”.

Earlier, the leader of women group who is also the lead consultant to UNDP and Rivers State Government on voters registration education campaign in the 23 local government area in the State, Princess (Mrs) Jenifer Spiff said the group was in the palace to sympathise with Oba on the death of his first wife.

Princess Spiff said the women’s mandate by UNDP and the State Government is to educate women, youths and other stakeholders on the need to participate in voters registration and election, in order to choose credible leaders in the 2011 election, adding that the campaign in Ogba Egbema/Ndoni was successful.
