Philanthropist Wants Corporate Intervention In State Football
A sports philanthropist in Rivers State, Mene Solomon Doctor Lah, has appealed to individuals and corporate organisations in the state to extend their support to the two Premier League Clubs in the state Dolphins and Sharks.
Lah, made the appeal recently during a visit to Dolphins FC pre season camp at Okwuzi in Oba-Egbema/Ndoni Local Government Area (ONELGA).
He lamented the absence of corporate presence in the clubs in a state where over five (5) major oil companies and several multi-Nationals do business, saying that, it was unfair.
Lah described the situation where people embark on armchair criticism of the teams as “most unfortunate.”
Speaking during the visit, Dolphin boss Stanley Eguma thanked Mene Solomon Doctor Lah for donating toiletries, match balls and beverages to the team.
According to Eguma, it has always been government alone without any outside support, and promised that the team will take advantage of the pre-season campaign and the materials donated to them will definitely enhance their fortune this soccer season.
Items donated to the team include 20 match balls, a cartoon of detergent, a carton of toothpaste, a carton of insecticide and a carton of powered milk.
