IGP Assures On 2011 General Elections
The Acting Inspector General of Police, Mr. Rafiz Ringim, has assured that the Police will ensure a level playing field for all in the 2011 general elections.
Ringim, who gave the assurance recently while addressing Police Officers in Umuahia, said the necessary logistics had been provided for the Police.
“The Federal Government has graciously approved our entire request for the conduct of the elections and we can’t afford to disappoint the country,’’ he said.
He said all outstanding allowances of police officers would be settled before the commencement of the elections as a morale booster.
Ringim said the gesture was to discourage corrupt practices by his men.
“We don’t want any police officer to go to any governor requesting for any form of help. We don’t have any reason to fail the nation at this crucial time,”
Ringim added that any officer found compromising the laid down rules and codes of conduct would be dealt with decisively.
