Envoy Optimistic Of Rivers New Dawn
Cameroonian Minister Plenipotentiary Consul in Nigeria, His Excellency Michel Auguste Atanangana is optimistic that Rivers State will be on the threshold of a new dawn if the infrastructural development and good governance in the state is sustained.
In an exclusive interview with The Tide in Port Harcourt, Atanagana said African leaders at all levels should endeavour to give quality service to meet the needs of the people.
He said, once the needs of the people were met, they would be encouraged to play contributory role in the affairs of governance.
Atanagana, who was in Port Harcourt on the occasion of the 10 Consecration/Enthronement Anniversary and 1st Anniversary of Archbishop/Bishop, the Most Rev Ignatius C.O.Kattey,JP was however, appreciative of the cordial relationship existing between Nigeria and Cameroon, especially in recent times.
The Cameroonian envoy said the concept of emergence of a new Africa should be pursued by respective governments with vigour to launch the continent to the path of genuine prosperity.
According to him, every part of Africa has certain perimeter for growth, and that what is needed is the political will and good governance to lubricate the wheel of growth for the benefit of the people.
Atangana also acknowledged Nigeria’s concerted efforts at her march to credible 2011 elections, noting that no effort should be spared to make the electoral process work.
He advised Camerooinans in Nigeria to be good ambassadors, urging them to be supportive of Nigerian government at fashioning a credible process that would gurarantee dividends of democracy to the people.
The Consul also spoke about the Cameroonian economic forum in Nigeria billed for next month. He said the forum which will be the second in the series, was designed to exchange and fine-tune business ideas, opportunities and economic values towards boosting economic growth of both Cameroon and Nigeria.
Already, he said Cameroonians in diaspora had indicated interest to invest in the country’s economy and predicted boom in the economy of Cameroon in the years ahead.
