The circulation of one of the most popular cement product in Port Harcourt, the Eagle Cement has grossly diminished in the market.
The Tide’s findings has showed that the product, which is found almost in every cement dealer’s shop, can hardly be found now in shops.
A visit to a number of shops revealed that the popular cement, which is the delight of many builders, have now been taken over by others like the Bua Cement, Dangote and others.
Having a market value that makes its demand higher, the Eagle Cement patronage and demand even at present is still high, as the few available ones have appreciated in price, while buyers who are used to the cement show some level of reluctance in the purchase of other products.
One of the dealers King Robinson who spoke to The Tide on the development posited that the Eagle Cement had become the delight of many consumers because of the quality in terms of quick air dry in block moulding.
He said that he could not receive the order he placed for supply of the product because the product was not available, while dealers now lobby for the few that are available.
On why the product is relatively scarce this period, another dealer of the product, Emmanuel Enyia said that the company had stopped production, probably due to some reorganisation that it wants to embark upon, which has made workers to stop work.
However, when The Tide tried to reach the public relations officer to ascertain the true position of things, he could not be reached, but source from the Eagle Cement Company said that there were issues that are being sorted in the company between the foreigners and the citizens.
The source disclosed that the management of the company could be returned to the foreigners, as the natives are being accused of mismanagement.
