Sports Minister Ibrahim Isa Bio has solicited the assistance of football power houses in the world in the training of Nigerian coaches.

He said this on Saturday at the certificate presentation to Flying Eagles’ Coach John Obuh by the German Ambassador to Nigeria, Joachim Schimillen, at the National Stadium in Abuja.

Tidesports source reports that the presentation is to acknowledge Obuh’s completion of a six-month training programme in Germany sponsored by that government.

Bio commended the German government for the sponsorship, saying that it was a welcome development worth emulating by other soccer loving nations.

“I want to use this medium to call on other countries to assist us in the training of our coaches.

“It will help us a lot and I am sure you are seeing the result of Obuh’s training. The boys have shown it in their play today,” the minister said.

Bio was full of appreciation for the gesture and described Germany as “the place to be when it comes to football development.”

“I want to express this country’s profound gratitude to Germany for their assistance.

“Technically, they are very good; you saw what they did in South Africa at the world cup.

“They develop young talents to become stars, which is what we want to emulate in Nigeria,” Bio said.
