APGA, Rates Self High
The chairman of the All People’s Grand Alliance (APGA) in Anambra-North Senatorial zone, Mr. Fidel Okafor, says the party will sweep ‘`all elective positions’’ in the December 4 local council election in the state.
“As it stands today, APGA is the only party to beat in the forthcoming local government elections,’’ Okafor told newsmen in Onitsha.
“Given the support the party enjoyed during the Feburary 6 governorship election in which prominent members of other parties worked for the re-emergence of APGA- led government, I entertain no fears that we would do it again.
“As far as APGA is concerned, we would defeat any party again transparently just as we did in the past governorship election since we have the people’s support.”
The APGA chieftain said that the 99 political wards in Anambra- North Senatorial Zone had been sensitised and fully mobilised by the party to ensure success.
According to him, you can see APGA aspirants’ posters and billboards flooding Onitsha and its environs which shows the importance the party attaches to the local council election.
Okafor noted that the local council and wards elections were important to the party because that would help Governor Peter Obi to work out all his developmental agenda for the state.
“Governor Obi throughout his first term in office worked under a difficult situation due to the state assembly that was 100 per cent representative of an opposition party.
“We want to reverse this trend and make the governor’s programme and agenda to sail through by having an APGA- controlled state assembly.
“But first, we must take control of the chairmanship of council areas and councillorship of wards to succeed in this direction’’.
