Amaechi Extols Late Daniel Kalio’s Virtues

Governor Chibuike Rotimi Amaechi of Rivers State, has described the late Mr Geoffrey Kaliyo Daniel Kalio, a foremost pharmacist and the first Nigerian to produce anti-malaria drug “Kalio Quin”, as a gentleman per excellence that lived an extremely fulfilled life.  

 Governor Amaechi, who said this last Wednesday when he paid a condolence visit to the family of late Kaliyo Daniel Kalio at his Port Harcourt residence, noted that the deceased lived a Godly life.

The governor, who recalled his youthful days when he met the late Kaliyo Daniel Kalio at the Creek Road axis of Port Harcourt, said he died a fulfilled man at the ripe age of 90 years and advised the family he left behind to emulate the exemplary lifestyle of their late father.

The State Chief Executive who was at the Kalio’s home with his wife, Judith, said the Rivers State Government would identify with members of the family during the burial and prayed God to grant the family the grace to bear the loss.

Responding on behalf of the family Mr. Sodiki Daniel Kalio thanked the Governor and his wife for sympathising with them at their moment of grief, noting that while his father was alive he prayed fervently for the success of the present administration and the state.

Late Geoffrey   Kaliyo Daniel Kalio was one of the best pharmacists in the South of the Niger, known for being the first indigenous person in Nigeria to produce an anti malaria drug. “Kalio Quin”.
