Chairman of the Port Harcourt zone of the Petroleum and Natural Gas Senior Staff Association of Nigeria (PENGASSAN), Comrade Smart Jack has called on women in the body to be actively involved in unionism.

He also urged the women to carryout programmes geared towards improving the condition of less privileged in the society.

Comrade Jack, who stated this recently during a recent meeting of women in PENGASSAN (WIP), noted that developments have made it necessary for women to rise up for the challenges and be actively involved in unionism.

“As unionists they would have the ability to carry out activities that can positively touch the lives of the less privileged in the society”, he said.

Jack, thus pledged PENGASSAN support for the women  “in order for you to actualise your dreams”.

Speaking at the occasion, Comrade Ijeoma D. Nwachukwu, the Zonal Chairman of WIP noted that the meeting was a follow-up to a previous one aimed at strategising the efforts.

“It is part of our efforts to meet set targets and to sensitise our women to wake up to the challenges ahead”, she said.

She explained that for the schedule to be executed, there was need for women to be sensitised on how to generate funds.

Nwachukwu assured that efforts will be made to assist WIP to render services to the less-privileged.
