LG Chairmen Involved In Cultism ’ll Be Arrested – Amaechi

Rivers State Governor, Rt. Hon. Chibuike Rotimi Amaechi says he will ensure the arrest and prosecution of any local government council chairman in the state, found to be involved in cult related activities.
Governor Amaechi who gave the warning at the Town Hall meeting with the people of Asari-Toru Local Government Area at Buguma, last Friday, said he would initiate all legal processes to ensure the imprisonment of any of the council chairmen, established by security report to have directly or indirectly aided cult activities.
“I will not hesitate to order the arrest and prosecution of any local government council chairman indicted by security report on issues of cultism in the state. I have no business with cultists, and I will not condone any act that promotes cult activities in the state,” he warned.
Governor Amaechi re-stated the state government’s commitment to the realization of the trans-Kalabari link road project.” One project I remain committed to is the Trans-Kalabari Link road. The government will ensure that the project is completed to boost the socio-economic life of the people,” he said.
The governor commended the achievement of the chairman of Asari-Toru local government council, Mr Ojukaye Flag Amachree whose average performance he rated as having surpassed that of the state government. “I must confess that the chairman has done well. If considered on the percentage, I will say he has done better than the state government”, Amaechi said.
The governor announced a donation of N100 million to the Asari-Toru local government council to cap the appreciation of the achievement of the chairman and to encourage him to put more efforts in infrastructural development.
Speaking earlier, the chairman of Asari-Toru Local Covernment Council, Mr Ojukaye Flag Amachree, enumerated a catalogue of projects, including a new council secretariat, legislative assembly, chairman’s lodge and poultry farm, among others.
