Ebonyi Youths Endorse Jonathan For 2011
An amalgamation of youth organisations in Ebonyi, under the umbrella of Ebonyi Youth Assembly, yesterday in Abakaliki endorsed President Goodluck Jonathan and his Vice Namadi Sambo for the 2011 presidential elections.
Mr Chinedu Ogah, President of the Assembly, handed over a certificate of endorsement to Gov. Martin Elechi who promised to do so within 72 hours.
The youths hinged their endorsement on what they described as Jonathan’s demonstration of in-depth knowledge of Nigeria’s problems and exhibition of leadership capabilities and potential.
“His avowed commitment to stable power in the country, the availability of petroleum products and efforts to conduct free, fair and violent-free election in 2011 are some of the President’s commendable efforts so far,” the group said.
Ogah stated that the electoral reform and reconstitution of INEC were some of the laudable achievements of the Jonathan administration.
“It is in response to the good governance of the Jonathan presidency, particularly to the youths that we give our unflinching support today and roll out our drums to celebrate and endorse our dear President and his vice for presidency in 2011.
Elechi, in his remark said that youths of Ebonyi had provided solutions to kidnapping, thuggery and other crimes.
“Ebonyi is probably the only state that has good luck because of the positive attitudes of our youths,” Elechi commended.
The Governor accepted to deliver the message to Jonathan to make himself available for the 2011 presidential polls.
“Zoning helped us get out of difficult positions but it should not preclude us from other possibilities because when God has zoned, no man can unzone.
“President Jonathan stands high among equals because he is driven by intellect, he is sober and a lover of Nigeria. He burns with passion to deliver Nigeria and we pray God to make him available for the 2011 elections,” Elechi said.
The rally featured match past by various groups, including members of the State Executive Council, the Ebonyi State House of Assembly members and the Women for Change Initiative, led by Mrs Josephine Elechi, wife of the Governor.
