Two Police Guns Recovered From Robbers In PH
Two AK 47 rifles belonging to the Nigerian Police have been recovered from the hideout of a notorious armed robbery gang by detectives of the Rivers State police command.
Dr Rita Inoma-Abbey, the command’s Pubic Relations Officer who disclosed this to newsmen said the recovery followed a confessional statement made by an alleged member of the gang, Sunyene Abari Baabari, aka Golden.
One of the rifles with inscription number 341125 belongs to the police while the other no 774497 and the eight fully-loaded magazines belong to the Nigerian military.
The command image maker in a news briefing said the discovery was made Wednesday at about 7.00am, adding that investigations on the matter were still on.
She stated that the police command had been repositioned to effectively protect lives and property in the state and solicited for the co-operation of members of the public in its bid to get rid of criminal activities in the state.
Also in a similar development, a police patrol team attached to Eneka Division of the Rivers State Police Command,last Friday apprehended five men allegedly in possession of fire arms.
According to police source, the men were arrested at about 10.30am after they were intercepted and was discovered that the Toyota Camry with the registration number AJ 778 SKP which they were driving in was a snatched vehicle belonging to one Mr Jude Umahi of Eneka community.
Four of the suspects, Mr Ini Willi, Prince Michael, Goodluck Nwosu and Chimaobi Anyanwu are currently in police net in connection with the incident while one of the suspects escaped.
Items recovered from the vehicle include N40,000 (forty thousand naira) and other valuables.
