The Speaker of Abia State House of Assembly, Chief Agwu U. Agwu, has called for the revitalisation of the country’s emergency management agencies.

Agwu told newsmen in Umuahia that “Nigerians have yet to be proud of the services of the various agencies entrusted with detecting and managing emergency within the country”.

Agwu, who was reacting to the inferno at Sun Publishing Limited, publishers of Daily and Sunday Sun Newspapers, urged the Federal Government to urgently do something in that direction.

He bemoaned the colossal loss suffered by the publishing company in the inferno and encouraged the management not to be deterred in rendering excellent services to the nation through the tabloid.

The speaker expressed regret that the incident would no doubt cause a setback to the company and charged the management to push it behind and forge ahead because the future was brighter and promising.

He, however, advised Nigerians to help government in the prevention and management of disasters by being careful with things capable of causing disasters both in their homes, offices and the environment.
